From next Tuesday the television market could change face of football.
The Court of Justice of the European Union has announced the publication of what could be a new "Bosman ruling" means a decision on the appeal presented by the Premier League against the owner of an English pub that used to convey the Greek TV card games at his club. On 3 February, the Advocate General of the Luxembourg Court, Juliane Kokott, issued the opinion - which generally directs the sentence - according to which EU law "does not prohibit the broadcast of football matches in the Premier League (English league) in public places, using foreign decoder cards." If the Court of Justice will make his opinion the Advocate General, anyone (in any country, since the judgments of the Court of Luxembourg have value throughout the Union) can buy a card for football, where pay-TV these are cheaper and see all the games legally. Currently, the football television rights are sold, taking into account the "territorial limits" within which they are enforced.
