The ASTRA Satellite System at the orbital position 23.5 Wed the east this morning launched a temporary technical tests of DVB-S2 multiplex Italian programs. An interesting feature is the high bit rate.

Technical tests carried out on the frequency 12.671 GHz, pol V Multiplex TandbergTV contains a single program in standard definition (SD) named Tandberg Service on which turns various Italian stations. Morning aired here La 7 pm Astra HD Demo (but in SD quality). In the evening, there appeared an Italian music TV RTL 102.5 TV broadcasts free of known satellite positions from the Hot Bird ( 13 ° E ).

Technical parameters:

* Astra ( 23.5 ° E ) freq 12.671 GHz, pol V, SR 7200, FEC 3 / 4, DVB-S2/8PSK, FTA

An interesting channel is the high video bit rate, which is around 13.5 Mbit / s MPEG-2/SD! Audio bit rate is set to 384 kbit / s.

To receive a multiplex is necessary HD set-top box, although the broadcast is in SD resolution. Indeed, immersion is used in DVB-S2, which supports only HD receiver. It is further recommended dish diameter 100 cm and more. The signal is relatively weak.
