Receiver, Card + Keys Help Please !!

Hi All

I am very new at this but I am a very fast learner, and most important I am prepared to research .. I just need a little help here please

I have a Euro Receiver Box with a dish pointing towards the Satellite I have chosen ( I can name both if it helps I just want to be respectfull and wait a while for any general answers ) so here goes.

1) Can Any Receiver use and Card ?? or are cards specific to the make and model of the receiver ? I noticed that particular leys are associated with specific encryptions therefore I suspect my answer lays closer to the later obsevation i.e cards fit any machine .. its what inputs the card associated with the channel that is encrypted that needs attention ? I will await a more considered answer.

2) How do you get hold of a/any card ( might seem obvious but I really do not know ) ... my receiver has a common interface slot

Not any receiver can use an origional card

Can any Receiver be adapted to work with any CAM or Smart card ?? in the same way that you used to be able to chip a DVD PLAYER so that it could read any region's DVD
